VRB Power Systems Inc. (TSX-V: VRB) announces a further sale of a 10 kilowatt-hour VRB(TM) Energy Storage System through its Australian distributor, Pinnacle VRB Ltd., as part of an off-grid Remote Area Power Supply ("RAPS") system for a 30 hectare rural property southwest of Hobart in Tasmania. This RAPS system will comprise a combination of solar photovoltaic panels with a spring water fed, micro-hydro turbine as complementary renewable energy sources that will be coupled to the VRB ESS(TM).

John Clark, the owner of the property said, "I was looking for a reliable, long life energy storage system that could best overcome the obvious deficiencies of lead acid batteries, exploit the multiple renewable energy resources available on our property and be easily expanded in line with our future plans."

"Dollar for dollar, we found it readily apparent that the VRB ESS provides a much higher usable storage capacity and longer life than lead acid systems and is much more tolerant of wide variations in operating conditions. The high efficiency of the energy storage system means that much more of the power generated by our micro-hydro turbine and solar panels becomes available to us as green energy," concluded Clark.

Colin Andrews, Executive Director of Pinnacle said, "It is good to see system designers beginning to fully appreciate the economic and environmental advantages of the VRB ESS. The VRB system provides independently scaleable power and energy storage capacity features and we are now able to offer one of the best and most economic energy storage solutions available to the RAPS system market in Australia."

"This sale has seen the VRB ESS receive formal recognition as a component of a renewable generation scheme which is eligible for the Federal Government's Renewable Remote Power Generation Programme. The sale, therefore, confirms the arrival of the 10kWh VRB system as a viable energy storage solution for domestic and small business consumers, and will encourage other clients to utilise the VRB systems in their energy generation programmes," concluded Andrews.

Vince Sorace, President of VRB Power said, "This sale demonstrates that Australia is evolving as a key market for VRB Power. Renewable energy is becoming more and more prevalent and federal and local governments are supporting its adoption. It is also very encouraging to see that the system at King Island has been successful in demonstrating the benefits of the VRB technology and in seeding the local market. We have a very strong relationship with Pinnacle and we anticipate additional orders for both renewable and remote area applications."

About VRB Power

Headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, VRB Power Systems Inc. ("VRB Power") is an electrochemical energy storage company that is commercializing the patented VRB(TM) Energy Storage System ("VRB-ESS(TM)") and has acquired the intellectual property rights comprising the Regenesys Energy Storage System ("RGN-ESS(TM)").

Both technologies represent a new enabling capability to effectively store large amounts of electricity on demand. They can provide direct economic benefits to utilities and end users in terms of improved power quality, reliability and energy efficiency and are particularly well suited to load levelling (peak shaving), electrical power arbitrage, grid stability enhancements, capital deferment and Remote Area Power Supply (RAPS) applications. The VRB-ESS is focused towards stationary applications such as utility substations, commercial buildings, production facilities, telecommunication operations, cellular radio sites and renewable resource generation such as wind and solar applications, where its utilization creates the ability to provide "firm" capacity.

As a "green" technology, the VRB-ESS is characterized by having a low ecological impact and is unlike most other conventional energy storage systems that rely on toxic substances such as lead or cadmium. VRB Power is publicly listed on the TSX Venture Exchange ("VRB") and the OTC Pinksheets ("VRBPF").
