Portable Media Update
Leading into this year's International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, VWB has announced both the Flyboy HD and CoPilot products. These products were demonstrated at the show and very well received by the industry, retailers, and journalists in attendance.
The CoPilot features video playback and recording on an internal 512MB flash drive. OpenCable-Compliant High Definition Media Centers
In November, VWB announced its plans to make interactive two-way digital cable products a retail certainty by entering into agreements with CableLabs(R) that enable VWB to implement OpenCable(TM) Application Platform (OCAP(TM))-compliant middleware on its next generation MediaREADY media centers. The agreements, available to any interested consumer electronics manufacturer, grant certain intellectual property rights required for building interactive devices in compliance with CableLabs' OpenCable(TM) hardware and software specifications. The two-way agreement is called CableCARD(TM) Host Interface Licensing Agreement (CHILA).
The company also announced its first product to incorporate this new technology, the MediaREADY 6000 which was demonstrated to much acclaim at the CES show. The MediaREADY 6000 combines DVD/MP3/CD recording and playback with an Internet browser, email, media jukebox and more, now includes onboard CableCARD(TM) digital cable tuning and dual ATSC/NTSC/PAL tuners for watch- record, AAC/iPod support, HD MPEG 2-4 (H.264)/DivX/WMV/VC-1 codecs, and VoIP/video conferencing support among other features.
