Right Hemisphere®, the leading provider of Product Graphics Management (PGM) software, today announced that Adobe Systems Incorporated has licensed and embedded 3D PGM technology from Right Hemisphere for the new Adobe® Acrobat® 3D software. This move extends the licensing agreement that enabled Adobe to integrate Right Hemisphere's 3D viewing technology into Adobe Acrobat® 7.0 and Adobe Reader® 7.0 software. Right Hemisphere also unveiled two new, complementary Acrobat 3D plug-ins today, the Right Hemisphere PMI Module™ and the Right Hemisphere PDF Publishing Module™, which further extend the 3D collaboration and publishing capabilities of Acrobat 3D.

"We are at the beginning of a 3D explosion where designs move beyond engineering and are shared with extended design teams, suppliers, partners, and customers," said Kevin M. Lynch, vice president of Marketing, Knowledge Worker Solutions Business Unit, Adobe. "We're excited about our relationship with Right Hemisphere and believe the two companies' innovative approaches will provide customers the tools needed to stay on the cutting edge. Acrobat 3D is one such milestone, essentially extending document-based design collaboration capabilities to anyone through the ubiquitous, free Adobe Reader."

Competitive pressures are forcing manufacturers to optimize Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) processes across engineering, marketing, training, technical publications, and support. "Now, with Right Hemisphere's 3D authoring technology embedded in the newly announced Adobe Acrobat 3D," says Gisela D. Wilson, director of IDC's Product Life-Cycle Management Solutions program, "companies of all sizes can benefit from superior 3D graphics quality in their Product Lifecycle Management collaboration across multiple disciplines within their enterprises as well as with outside partners."

Until recently, 3D has been limited to CAD models in engineering departments, leaving these valuable assets underutilized. "By combining best in class technologies, Adobe and Right Hemisphere now enable companies to streamline 2D and 3D 'Part to Publishing' processes and achieve significant competitive advantage. Further, our mutual commitment to open standards such as PDF, backed up by powerful server technology such as Right Hemisphere Deep Server™ and Adobe LiveCycle™ server software, will broaden adoption of high value 3D graphics across extended enterprises," said Michael Lynch, CEO of Right Hemisphere.

Acrobat 3D users can leverage the new Right Hemisphere PMI (Product Manufacturing Information) Module to access model views and associated PMI data once locked in proprietary CATIA® and JT files and publish it in Adobe PDF. Providing wider access to this data helps manufacturers ensure that their suppliers have more complete, accurate specifications. The PMI Module also helps manufacturers replace bulky 2D paper and e-drawings that have dominated the shop floor and the supply chain. Manufacturers and suppliers no longer require a proprietary CAD application or visualization tool to view and collaborate. Instead, PMI and GD&T (Geometric Dimension and Tolerance) data can now be viewed within a PDF file with 3D objects to drive more effective collaboration.

The new Right Hemisphere PDF Publishing Module allows Acrobat 3D users to easily create, design, and publish highly interactive 3D documents without JavaScript® programming. These interactive PDF documents with 3D objects are valuable in a number of collaboration and training use cases, and can include 3D animations, text, and metadata, along with controls for animation and viewing such as play, pause, hide, and unhide. As a result, users improve collaboration, training, and support effectiveness while lowering the costs of creating and distributing collaboration, training, and support documents.

Right Hemisphere's server solutions include Deep Server and associated offerings for design collaboration, interactive training, technical publications, and marketing communications. Deep Server is Right Hemisphere's flagship PGM product and provides a wide variety of complementary PGM services for Acrobat 3D users.

Desktop versions of Right Hemisphere's PMI Module and PDF Publishing Module will be available in March 2006 from both the Adobe Web Store and the Right Hemisphere Web site (www.righthemisphere.com). The PMI Module will be priced at $495. The PDF Publishing Module will be $295.
