Clyvia Inc. (OTCBB: CLYV) -
On July 20, 2006, Baroness Clyvia Von Oppenheim became an official patron of the pilot plant built and operated by Clyvia Technology GmbH. As part of the ceremony, in which Hedwig Klein, the mayor of Wegberg, also participated, the pilot plant's reactor was officially christened "Clyvia" by Baroness von Oppenheim with a bottle of champagne. An official opening ceremony for the pilot plant had previously been held on June 7, 2006. In addition to being named after the Baroness, the Clyvia name is an acronym for "CataLYtischen Verdampfung Industrieller Abfallstoffe," which, in English, translates to "catalytic vaporization of industrial waste."
Baroness Clyvia von Oppenheim is a doctor and shareholding partner in the Siempelkamp Group and is also related to the family that owns the Cologne private banking company Sal. Oppenheim. Dr. Manfred Sappok, one of the founders of Clyvia Technology GmbH, had previously worked for the Siempelkamp Group for a number of years at the management level prior to founding Clyvia Technology. The tradition of naming a new project after an individual personally connected with the company goes back to Dr. Sappok's days with the Siempelkamp Group.
The pilot plant uses waste oils, detergent oils and plastics as raw materials to produce diesel fuel and/or heating oil. The fractional depolymerization process used by the pilot plant is similar to the cracking of crude oil and has the potential to offer an economically viable method of exploiting waste materials.
Clyvia Technology GmbH is a subsidiary of Clyvia Inc., a Nevada, USA corporation. Clyvia's shares are traded on over-the-counter market in the United States (OTCBB: CLYV) as well as on the stock market in Frankfurt (WKN: A0F59X, ISIN: US18975K1088).
