Oxford Media, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: OXMI), a secure digital communication and technology company, announced today that Hooman Honary has been appointed to lead Oxford Media's planned WiMAX wireless initiative into the underserved secondary markets throughout the United States. Mr. Honary is largely considered one the nation's leading experts in WiMAX wireless technology.
Oxford Media recently began a sales and marketing campaign of its proprietary digital Video-on-Demand (VOD) and Pay-Per-View entertainment system, aimed at the small and mid-sized hotels and motels -- a segment of the hotel industry previously underserved and unable to offer such services to their guests. This targeted market of hospitality properties with between 50 to 300 rooms comprises over 2.4 million hotel rooms in the U.S. and represents approximately 56% of the total hotel market. Oxford Media's VOD technology is one of the only hotel entertainment systems optimized for WiMAX deployment. The company plans to install WiMAX antennas on the rooftops of these hotels, eventually creating a nationwide private broadband network that can offer broadband Internet access, VOD and VoIP services to surrounding businesses and homeowners.
Mr. Honary's role with Oxford Media will include the formulation of technical strategy for wireless product lines, contribution to the standardization of next generation wireless technologies, involvement in creation of product and technology roadmaps, and the establishment of market alliances with companies possessing products and technologies that are strategic to the Oxford Media's wireless initiatives. As an expert in the wireless field, he will also publish whitepapers, and be involved with media activities including interviews and customer interactions
Mr. Honary has been engaged in communications systems and silicon architecture, definition and implementation in various technical capacities since 1992 having 18 patents issued and/or pending. Recently, he has served as a Senior Strategic Technologist at one of the global leaders in semiconductors for wired and wireless communications. From 2001 to 2004, he worked at the Intel Architecture Labs -- Wireless Technology Division where he was a key contributor in numerous leading edge wireless initiatives including the next generation Intel Software Defined Radio architecture "Reconfigurable Communications Architecture" (RCA), which would enable seamless roaming between WLAN, WPAN and cellular.
He has been involved in wireless standardization activities and serves as a voting member of the IEEE 802.11 and WiMAX Forum. He has extensive experience in the performance analysis of wireless communication systems and is familiar with a broad range of cellular & IEEE standards; WCDMA, 802.11, (WiFi), 802.16 (WiMAX), 802.15 (WiMedia). Mr. Honary has a detailed understanding of technologies and architectures used in wireless communication systems such as OFDM, CDMA, and various multiple antenna technologies.
Herbert Presley, Chief Technology Officer of Oxford Media stated, "Hooman Honary is a great addition to our senior staff and will be focused on Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) technologies, standards and products, with WiMAX being the leading technology candidate. Within this broad scope, Hooman's activities can be categorized into the following four groups; Technology, Company Product Portfolio, Interfacing with the WiMAX Industry, and Standards and Market Analysis."
