NeuStar, Inc. (NYSE: NSR) today announced the expansion of its SIP-IX Industry Alliance Program, adding seven key service provider and technology partners. In response to customer demand, and to ensure a complete solution among all providers in the industry and between all networks, each of the new participants has agreed to work with NeuStar to provide interoperability with SIP-IX. The newly added partners are AcmePacket, BroadSoft, iBasis, NexTone, Sonus, Sylantro, and XO Communications.

NeuStar, a trusted, neutral operator of registries, has developed SIP-IX as the first comprehensive suite of services designed to enable direct network-to-network peering, with a standards-based, cross-domain registry service that is integrated with the world's leading Internet Exchange Providers (IXPs). The Industry Alliance Program is designed to make it possible for carriers and network operators to obtain policy-controlled access to comprehensive, authoritative network routing and addressing information, as well as foster working relationships among Alliance partners and the vastness of their collective customer systems.

The newly added partners join NeuStar's previously announced technology and IXP partners, including Equinix and Telehouse, and technology partners Ceon, JacobsRimell, Incognito, and Nominum. NeuStar's Industry Alliance Program will continue to expand in response to specific customer requirements and opportunities. NeuStar has additionally been in discussion with wireless service providers, opening up its next phase of SIP-IX trials to demonstrate wireless and intermodal peering in an IP infrastructure.

NeuStar's SIP-IX service and Industry Alliance Program ensures seamless integration and the realization of strategic business value as a consequence of its resulting service and revenue enablement. SIP-IX lays the groundwork for service providers and carriers to deploy new, all-IP services, such as voice, video and instant messaging, which deliver value between and among federated communities. SIP-IX offers a suite of neutral application peering services that include policy-enabled, shared routing, and addressing directory services, based on existing in-production private ENUM services. In combination, the services are representative of NeuStar's focus and development of SIP-IX over the past three years, and are a natural extension of the value of NeuStar's experience as a trusted interoperability provider for the next generation of wired, wireless, and emerging IMS environments.

"Turning SIP and IP-based services from interesting niches into mainstream revenue opportunities is wholly reliant upon interworking amongst major network operators. For them, a trusted, neutral, and seamless solution for services peering is essential," said Mark Foster, NeuStar CTO. "The broad application of leading suppliers to network operators in the SIP-IX Alliance Program delivers that value now more than ever, and is a reflection of the trusted neutrality of this Alliance that ensures we collectively can seamlessly deliver a compelling business solution that creates strategic value for our customers."

"Interconnection and peering services across service provider networks are perhaps the greatest challenges the industry faces as we move to a world of advanced IP-based services" said John Longo, Heavy Reading Senior Analyst. "With the Industry Alliance Program, NeuStar and its partners are helping advance the industry by working through many of the interconnection issues."
