and today marks another forward step toward that goal,"Governor Ted Kulongoski said. "The future looks bright for making aircleaner in Oregon. And the future looks bright for the companies andindustries that bring clean-air technology to our state."
For EENT, the gathering was an opportunity to reach out to an audienceinterested in learning more about its system. The AXP 1000 cuts down ondiesel emissions by eliminating the need for truck engines to idlewastefully in order to power cab creature comforts and the HVAC climatecontrol system while the truck is stopped. Instead, a generator set thatuses significantly less fuel and emits significantly less pollution servesthe purpose. The unit not only cuts down on emissions but also savessubstantially on fuel costs, making the system economical as well as energyefficient.
"We are thrilled that Governor Kulongoski has taken such a strong stance onclean air and the reduction of emissions on the I-5 corridor," saidMcAndrew. "He is exemplifying Oregon's reputation as a leader on greenissues, and we are happy to play a part by marketing a product that has theability to markedly reduce emissions from the thousands of long haul truckstraveling the corridor on a regular basis."
EENT is hoping to team with organizations in Oregon that have taken thelead on emissions reductions technology like the Lane Regional AirPollution Authority (LRAPA). LRAPA is planning a series of showroomslocated along the I-5 corridor from California to Washington that willfeature emissions reduction technology for the trucking industry. LRAPAalso created the "Everyone Wins Program," which currently offers low-costleasing to truck owners who want to install an auxiliary power unit ontheir rigs.
