CA today announced support for the Intel vPro technology. This support enables CA customers to realize benefits from adopting vPro technology to optimize service levels and help reduce total PC ownership costs.
The Intel vPro technology enables organizations to manage systems and react to problems, even where traditional software-only approaches would be ineffective -- for instance, when systems have suffered operating system failures or have been powered off. CA's Unicenter NSM r11, which currently supports the Intel Professional Business Platform, will take advantage of these capabilities -- which include remote booting, secure remote power control, out-of-band discovery, provisioning and health monitoring -- to simplify and scale systems management operations.
"In the wired workplace, employee productivity and overall business performance depend on the health of the user desktop," said Alan Nugent, senior vice president and general manager of CA's Enterprise Systems Management business unit. "Working together, Intel and CA are ensuring that this health can be optimally maintained while making it possible for our customers to re-allocate IT staff to other critical responsibilities."
Large and small businesses alike are seeking ways to reduce IT workloads, even as the complexity and scale of their computing environments continue to grow. The combination of Intel's next-generation platform and CA's industry- leading management solutions enable them to achieve this important objective.
"CA has worked closely with Intel to design management and security solutions that take advantage of Intel vPro technology," said Gregory Bryant, general manager of Intel's Digital Office Platform Division. "As a result, businesses and IT will be able to ensure strengthened security and lower costs through automated and responsive PC support and repairs."
